Most of the sugar in Asia produced from sugarcane whereas in Europe beet is used to produce sugar. Currently, sugarcane is grown in an area of 16 m. ha across 79 countries in the world. The global production of raw sugar is about 112 m.t and India produce 167 m.t stands first in area (3.93 m. ha) among the sugarcane growing countries of the world. In Karnataka sugarc ane is cultivated over an area of 4.80 lakh ha with production 36.76 million tons of sugarcane and productivity of 85.50 tons per hectare (Indiastat 2015-2016) in Belgaum. In Karnataka, Mandya district is the second largest producer of sugarcane followed by Belgaum. According to Mandya district agriculture statistics, 30,000 hectares of land have been used for sugarcane cultivation in this region. The current study is focused on socio – economic conditions of sugar cane farmers in Mandya district. The study is based on primary data and it is collected by using purposive random sampling techniques with prepared questionnaire schedule. Total 200 samples were collected and to analyze data statistical techniques were used.

The study was conducted in Peri-urban areas of Mysore city. The real estate expanding horizontally over the peripheral areas to include lands that were previously under the rural village. With the real estate expansion, the land use pattern was also changed from agricultural land use to industrial and urban residential purposes. Therefore, the study concentrates on an implication of rapid expansion of the real estate and respective land-use changes for farming communities who earn their livelihood from farmland. The study covers people located at the periphery of the town who previously lost their farmland due to the real estate and continue to earn their livelihood directly and indirectly from agriculture. It is observed that the rapid growth of real estate has impact on the other assets in connection with the reduction of land size. This includes livestock, tree plants, and others that enhance farmers to carry out agricultural activities. Finding from the survey results indicated that most evicted families have decreased the number of livestock due to a decrease in the size of farmlands and grassland. Tree plants, the other farmers’ assets have also been affected after displacement.

Corporate social responsibility entails social and moral responsibility of the businesses towards community and planet at large. Corporate Social Responsibility or CSR of a corporation means obligation to act in a manner, which will serve the best interests of the society and which leads in the direction of positive contributions to human betterment. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is one of the aspects to gauge the success of a firm. And so, the interventions of CSR have to be carefully devised keeping in mind the objectives, vision and mission of the stakeholders. CSR is a process of taking care of people, environment along with generating profits by business. The research paper considers the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives carried out by TVS Motor Company limited located in Nanjangud Taluk of Mysore district. The impact of CSR interventions of the company on rural households has been assessed with a set of indicators like acess to healthcare, reduction in infant mortality, access to skill development opportunities, increased employment opportunities, financial Inclusion through SHGs and increased awareness levels. The empirical results revealed that most of the company’s interventions are in the area of healthcare and education. The educational interventions have not reduced school dropouts where in case of healthcare interventions, CSR efforts have achieved 100% accessibility to healthcare services and play a positive role in increasing the health awareness and reducing infant mortality. CSR efforts towards ensuring financial inclusion of women have been successful but the impact of self employment related interventions has been negligible. An overall assessment of number of beneficiaries of CSR in each household revealed that the impact of CSR interventions of the company on the economic status, education levels, health status, and awareness levels of the rural households has been marginal.

Forecasting inflation is the key but challenging task for the monetary authority that aims to stabilise price levels conducive to sustained economic growth. The standard autoregressive models overly depend on inter-temporal macro variables and their lags rendering inaccurate estimation and poor forecast accuracy. The Bayesian vector autoregression (BVAR) estimation allows more endogenous variables and prior information and enables more accurate inflation forecasts. This paper forecasts inflation over short horizons (up to 6 quarters ahead) using the quarterly data from Q2-1996 to Q1-2019 data applying the BVAR method with rolling and expanding window forecast strategies. The best prior is selected by comparing the out-of-sample forecast accuracy. Two BVAR models that describe the important dynamics and interactions between the determinants of inflation are estimated. The BVAR model is compared with other benchmark models. The BVAR inflation forecasting outperforms the benchmark univariate and VAR models. The fan charts for modelling inflation through the Bayesian VAR model show that the model delivers a decent performance and can be used to forecast inflation for short horizons.

The main intention of this paper is to analyze the trend and growth pattern of agricultural production in the Indian economy after the LPG method from 1990-91 to 2018-19 by using a simple statistical model. This study has been observed an increasing trend of Total Food Production (TFP), particularly wheat production (2.15%) is very high as compared with other food production during the period of time, whereas, the rice production (1.56%) is notably low in respect of Compound growth rate and annual growth rate analysis. Finally, this study has been found that poor performance in overall Indian agricultural production, and therefore, this paper suggests that it is very clear, if the government concentrates on the agricultural production process with proper policy measures then possibly will get better performance in agricultural production.
